Furthest Terror - ALPHA
I WILL BE DELISTING THIS GAME ON MAY 1ST. PLAY WHILE YOU HAVE THE CHANCE!!!
-------------------------------------------------------------
The era of exploration is over, yet ghosts still linger on the fringes of the globe...
Willis Faulker has been sent on a top secret mission to rendezvous with his missing brother.
Otto Landsknecht is the last surviving member of a famed doomed expedition decades in the past.
And you. Who are you?
----------------------------------------------------------------
Lead a party of seven to the icy Mt. Terror.
Dodge crevasses, endure the arctic nights, eat your dogs, eat each other, and fight to stay alive.
This current game is a SUPER DUPER ALPHA!!!! You'll be able to finish this in like, 30 minutes, lol.
Current features:
- 7 renameable NPCs that each have their own strength, weakness and just 'eh' stat.
- Use your deductive reasoning to figure out who to send on what encounters. If you choose wrong, pain (or even death!) might await.
- Twelve Days to survive through!
Full Game features:
- An actual story! (Wow!) Planned two 'routes' with three main endings and ofc plenty of ways to die.
- A glossary! What parts of this script are inspired by real events and what are fictional? Well this glossary will lay things out for easy understanding (and also allows me to share all the cool stuff I found in my research heehee)
- YOU CAN EAT YOUR DOGS!!! YOU CAN EAT YOUR TEAMMATES!!
- "Woah woah, I don't want to read something so upsetting!!!" How about a "Happily Ever After" mode that swaps out all the horrible events with extremely happy things so you can still enjoy the story while also not being upset when your favorite NPC falls down a crevasse and is never seen again?
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hi there everyone! This year's nano is a bit different. (I think I said that last year too, HAHA) This year I've only got a super barebones project to share with you all. I'm only going to keep it up for a month (because I only like to keep full finished projects on my page) so play while you have a chance!
I do not plan on working on this after this month, I'm going back to Mokemon dev (which I'm actually really excited to work on again!!) and this little arctic game is going back into the 'Heiden vault'. :) You'll probably see it again someday, as this was a game I've been wanting to make since 2016!
The script is currently at 12k length and I've only made it to the end of the common route. I estimate the full game to be around 30k but I also know I want to include a bunch of different random encounters and such, so who knows!
And honestly the absolute best thing about this year's project is that I DIDNT STRESS AT ALL!!!!!!!!! (Big success!!!)
Anyway, I hope you have fun with this little limited edition build! Are you able to get to Mt. Terror? Did you keep all your men alive? :))) Let me know!!
EDIT: There is a strange bug where if you use the SPACE BAR to advance text to the choices, it won't choose which explorer you clicked to send. :/ To avoid this, just use the mouse.

I have a soft spot for management games! I'm proud to report I only got one of them dead (Cook who I designated as the party Cook ), but hey, made it to day 13 despite the hurdles. I love that base on the skill level of each member, the journey can take on a different trajectory for every replay and scenario! This is a very cool game! :D
Omg thank you!! I also love management games heehee. π
This alpha version was really cool! Gotta say, I love the music at the title screen and the fuzzy effect, it makes for a super cool ambience! I noticed a few typos though with code, one being "[color=blue] Who do you send to help with the reading?"
This game was fun, and it was cool trying to figure out who was good with what. I unfortunately lost Shackleton since, out of the 2 people chosen to help, I had no clue if they were good at strength. Blackjack was also on 1 hp due to snow blindness and he eventually died due to another issue. This game is tough, but fun, you did a good job with the mix! I replayed it couple times to see if I could get everyone there in one piece (finally got it on try 3!). I was surprised to see that the NPC's change! No clue if stats always change or not. Gotta say, the funniest thing was when I had 3 days in a row where someone started a fight over boots, the latter 2 which were started by the same person.
A good game concept with some fun replay options! Excited to see where this goes. Hope you have a nice day!
Yay! I'm so glad to hear that despite it's very rough state it was still fun to play!!
The boots thing made me audibly chuckle haha π
And yes! Every time you start a new game the names and stats are randomly generated!
Thank you so much for playing and I hope you have a nice day too! π
Ah cool! Makes sense, half the fun is figuring out who's good at what so it's understandable that stats would be randomized each time to ensure a
completely different experience.
I played the alpha! It was short but quite intense! Truth be told, I think I did quite well, since I only had one death on the last day! So, I really appreciated how the music and the background helped set the vibe, and I think it has a lot of potential! Of course, as a game with an actual storyline, but I think a sort of "infinite" mode including a random set of events might also be a fun play mode, to see how long players can survive with random distributions of stats amongst the party (which I think would be more difficult to do in a story mode if the characters all have set personalities?).
So yes, I've had a lot of fun with it, and I think trying to have everyone survive already feels quite stressful (in a good way), so I can't help but imagine how much more it would be in a fuller game, when it is ready someday!
Oohhh I'm happy it wasn't too hard! But I also think I can make it just a little harder π§ The endless mode is a genius idea !!!!
I was sad I wasn't able to include any of the actual plot (esp bc it was the thing I worked the hardest on this month aha π ) but it was in such a state that although I think it's got potential and I like where it's going, it still needs quite a lot of editing to make it public worthy.
The NPCs won't have much of a personality but there are two main party members that act as the narrative focus! (I wanted the 7 NPCs to be blank slates so players could rename them after their friends etc. π)
I'm so happy to hear it's excitingly stressful! Which is what I was hoping to achieve. Excited to keep working on it someday! π
This is the first time I didnβt get everyone killed in a survival game, omg!!! π I feel like I won at life lolol
The game is absolutely amazing!! I would totally play this for hours! ππ
Omg congratulations!!!
Thank you so much for playing !!! I'm so glad to hear it's fun even in it's alpha state!
A fun peek into what the gameplay is going to be like :D! Intrigued by the intensity of the story haha
I won both times, once with two deaths and once with one! Going to keep fiddling with it to see if I can get better at putting together the puzzle of what everyone on my team is good at \o/ some of them may die...but it's a sacrifice I am willing to make. :>
i'm really curious to see how this will go! i enjoyed going through finding out who is good at what. (i won! π)
EEEEE thank you!!!! Glad to hear you won! I wanted to make sure it wasn't too hard π
Congrats on the release!
Thank you!! π
